Just a quick post with a link to a piece by talented calligrapher Patricia Lovett MBE about the beautiful Roll of Honour which she created for Plaxtol. The Roll carries the names of more than 150 former village schoolchildren and four school staff who fought in World War One.
The Roll hangs in what was originally the national school, where these men studied and worked.

Today marks the centenary of the end of the Battle of Arras, begun with Allied advances, most notably the British and Canadian attack on Vimy Ridge in early April. The battle was fought as news of the Revolution in Russia filtered through to the Western Front.
